Choosing a Mattress.

It is estimated that you spend a third of your life in bed and that sleeping in an uncomfortable one is equal to losing 1 hours sleep at night. Your choice of mattress could make all the difference.

The main support is provided by the mattress which may come with the bed or be a seperate purchase.

Types of mattress:

There are a number of types of mattress:

  • Pocket sprung - individual pocketed springs are linked together in a honeycomb pattern, the most luxurious, offering the best body support and comfort.
  • Open sprung - the most common method of springing and less expensive than the pocket spring.
  • Memory foam - made from sophisticated closed cell foam that reacts with body heat and the weight of your body to form the contours of your body..
  • Latex - conforms to your body's contours and is breathable to prevent overheating.
  • Combination foam - constructed from either an open coil or pocket spring unit with layers of the memory foam incorporated within the layers of upholstery, gives you the best of both worlds.

Ideally you should try out different types and firmness of mattress to determine what suits you.
